The cheapest time to visit Boston is in the winter, and the most popular time is during the summer. Visit during spring if you want decent weather but don’t want to spend too much money on accommodation. Boston hotels are usually reasonably priced during spring months. You might also want to consider staying outside of the downtown area in surrounding neighborhoods like Cambridge, Brookline, Concord, Braintree, and Andover.
